My team and I assembled the levers out of plastic bins and some PVC. Using foil wrapping as a switch, we hooked them up to an Arduino board to control the cyborg blueprint projected onto the wall.
I did the illustration for the blueprint. We cluttered up the surrounding space with hanging wires and dampened the gallery lights with perforated aluminum foil. We selected a vaguely creepy ambient soundbed to go along with this dark and gloomy theme.
The user is given feedback in the form of a randomly selected drilling sound upon pulling a lever, and one of the cyborg’s components changes on the projection. One lever controlled the head, one controlled the arms, one controlled the torso, and one controlled the legs. I illustrated four states for each. Users could mix and match states.
